Dynamo retain Premier cup crown
Wednesday 15th April 2015
|Bushbury EMB Rovers
||0 v 1||Dynamo Dudley
Leon Naylor 6
An entertaining contest was settled by an early Leon Naylor goal as Dynamo retained the trophy that they won twelve months earlier.
The first real opportunity fell to Bushbury's Patrick Rafferty, set up by Kyle Matthews, but the former was unable to convert the chance. Bushbury were to pay for this two minutes later as Dynamo opened the scoring. Good wing play by Shaun Devonport resulted in an inviting cross for Leon Naylor who acrobatically found the corner of the net with a stunning strike.
The crossbar played its part minutes later in keeping the scoresheet intact for Dynamo - Joseph Owen's header crashing back of the frame of the goal whilst Rafferty and Matthews spurned glorious chances to equalise. At the other end Devonport forced his way into the penalty area but dragged his hot wide.
The only notable change as the teams came out for the second half was the emergence from the tunnel of Dynamo, who had swapped their original purple shirts for white, citing a colour clash with Bushbury's royal blue attire.
Bushbury went all out in search of an equaliser - Daniel Fearon's free kick surprising Dan Fletcher in the Dynamo goal, but Fletcher managed to re-adjust to push the ball round the post. Dynamo went in search of a second goal cushion and a fantastic mazy run from Naylor saw his shot miss the post, the ball rebounding to the feet of Devonport who with the goal gaping missed an absolute sitter. Minutes later Naylor beat the offside trap but Nathan Smith saved well with his feet.
Fourteen minutes from time Bushbury thought they had equalised but Matthews' glancing header was adjudged offside by assistant Ajay Sharma much to the dismay of the travelling army of Rovers' supporters. Rafferty was next on hand to try his luck forcing a great save from Fletcher and then Matthews dragged the rebound wide. It was all in vain as referee James Clements blew for full time and capatin Aaron Lloyd received the trophy from Glyn Rowley from First 4 Staff, the competition sponsors.
