Red Star |
2 v 3 | Wombourne Wanderers |
Jagjit Kullar 2 |
Stevie Hubbard |
The Sawyer Cup Final replay between Red Star and Wombourne provided another thriller between these close division 3 rivals.
The tie started in sensational fashion, with Star leading scorer Jagjit Kullar scoring from 20 yards in the opening minute, only for Wombourne to reply within a minute through their top marksman Stevie Hubbard.
Stuart Lampit was in fine form for Wombourne and he set up the chance for Allan Burrows to shoot through a crowd of players to give Wombourne a half time lead.
Star came out full of fight in the second half and were rewarded within four minutes when Jagjit Kullar scored. Kullar should have made better use of two simple chances on the hour and as Wombourne regained their composure, they rattled the Star defence.
John Timmins hit the winner for Wombourne in the last minute.
