Rising Sun Shine In Clinton Cup Glory

Thursday 6th May 2010

Coven Colts 0 v 1 Rising Sun

Jacob Morris-Jones 34

RSCC0910.jpgA solitary first half goal from Jacob Morris-Jones was enough to see Rising Sun triumph in this season's Clinton Cup Final.

It was Rising Sun that created most of the early chances of the first half, Morris-Jones forcing Richard Black in the Coven goal to make his first save, diving down to the left to parry the ball away after 20 minutes.

The early pressure paid off ten minutes before the interval when Morris-Jones collected the ball inside the area and fired in with his left foot past Black. Kieran Walker should have doubled the advantage three minutes before the break, but he could only place his shot straight at the Coven custodian.

Colts hit back after the interval, Darren Jeffs forcing Daniel Roath into action and Roath was called upon seven minutes later saving with his feet from Chris Bray.

Louis Pullen attempted an audacious effort after 79 minutes, but Richard Black adjusted well to tip his effort over the crossbar. Man of the Match, Black, pulled off another fine save from Morris-Jones free kick to keep his side in the contest.

A 30 yard effort from Coven's Chris Bray in injury time smashed against the bar to deny them extra time, but Rising Sun stood firm to claim their first peice of Beacon League silverware.
